BLESSED by STIIIZY provides 60 Welcome Home Kits to Survivors of Domestic Abuse at Downtown Women’s Center
We received a mountain of responses from our Customer Choice Campaign, where we asked our followers and enthusiasts on social media which cause BLESSED by STIIIZY should support next.
The responses from our enthusiasts, consumers, and followers only echoes the honest and good nature of their hearts, with responses ranging from animal rights and environmental issues to supporting children & their families affected by Autism. It was difficult to narrow it down, but the most popular cause was supporting women and their families that have survived domestic abuse.
We connected with our friends at the Downtown Women’s Center located in Skid Row, just a few blocks away from our flagship STIIIZY location. Our donation, made possible through the proceeds from the sale of BLESSED by STIIIZY products, was 60 “Welcome Home Kits” for women transitioning into permanent housing. Each kit contained items that promote mindfulness, relaxation as well as gifts to provide a spa treatment such as a personal journal, calming tea and mugs, aromatherapy, spa slippers, robes, towels and foaming bath soak. These items may seem obscure but their intention is crystal clear, to restore dignity that was stolen, promote healthy habits that help reduce stress, as well as provide a much needed acknowledgment that someone cares about and sees these women as deserving of a world class spa treatment!
The Downtown Women’s Center is the only organization in Los Angeles focused exclusively on serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness and formerly homeless women. When women flee domestic abuse, they are often forced to leave their homes, with nowhere else to turn. Here in Los Angeles domestic violence is the number one cause of homelessness for women. It’s a terrible and incessant cycle and the Downtown Women’s Center is working to end that cycle.
