Cindy De la Vega Honored with Opportunity to Light the Bill Graham Memorial Menorah in Union Square

STIIIZY Celebrates Hanukkah in San Francisco

A large crowd gathered to enjoy the lighting ceremony of the Bill Graham Memorial Menorah at the historical Union Square in the heart of San Francisco. The concept of lighting a menorah in a public space dates back to ancient times in the Jewish tradition where menorahs were lit outside of home, temples and in other public places.

Chabad SF named the menorah in honor of the influential rock promoter legend Bill Graham. Chabad cares for the spiritual and material needs of all Jewish people, in San Francisco and wherever they can be found.

The ceremony has been a staple in the city for nearly 50 years, establishing it as one of the first public menorah lighting ceremonies in the United States and one of the largest outside of Israel.

Individuals of different faiths, walks of life, age, and color joined the Jewish community during this year’s ceremony.

Our very own Cindy De La Vega, social equity owner of STIIIZY Union Square,  had the honor of lighting the candle on the 5th night of Hanukkah during this sacred tradition and celebration.
